The refrigerator is one of the few appliances in the home that works constantly and keeps food and drinks fresh and cold. Therefore, it means that it works for quite a long time without breaking down. But just like any other appliance, a refrigerator can break down as well, something that calls for repair in order to ensure that your food won’t get spoiled. You may not be an expert in repairing a fridge, but the expert refrigerator repair advice in this post can perhaps help you bring that appliance back to life:
Refrigerator just isn’t cool
Most fridges come with a water dispenser or an ice maker. If you own this type, make sure to check out the inlet valve for leakage. If the compression nuts are leaking, have them tightened. There could be another reason for the above problem; the refrigerator is not leveled. Water often spills out of the refrigerator’s pan due to this issue. So, make sure that your fridge is leveled. Sometimes, the drain tube may get clogged, so it requires draining. If you don’t know where to start with the drain tube, call a pro to have the problem fixed.
Having ice maker issues?
The icemaker may start making tiny cubes or stop working completely. The main reason for this is that there has been a blockage in the water supply. What you need to do is to check the water inlet tube to see if it is plugged. This could be the reason why there is low water pressure. The next step is to unplug the saddle valve in case the hole is clogged. You also want to change the water inlet valve to stop the blockage.
No light in the fridge
In this situation, you need to check the inside of your fridge. This is simply because your fridge turns off the light when its door closes. You can press on it a number of times, and make sure that the button is not stuck. You can also remove the current bulb and replace it with a new one. Consult your manual to know the make and model number.
The fridge is noisy
There are three notable places from which noises can come; the condenser fan motor, the compressor or the evaporator fan motor. You are advised to pull out your fridge and unscrew the back cover. This way, you will be in a good position to tell where the noise is coming from. The fan motor can easily be replaced by removing the problematic one and installing a new one. If the problem is in your compressor, it is recommended to buy a new fridge altogether.
Some fridges become noisier especially when the door is opened. This is a sure sign that the evaporator fan motor is the reason behind this. There is good news, though; you can easily replace it by unscrewing the back cover panel and installing a new fan. And the issue becomes even easier to fix if you have already scribbled down the make and model number of your fan.
